Indoors Nostalgia
I wish I had a brilliant future
to offer my mother
any amount of fish for the Easter Week meal
or that I could still watch movies with my father
sitting the two of us
without being strangers.
The Old Man Remembers
My toes would sink in the bright grass.
Back at home
i had hunger
and my mother
a new skirt.
Swallow's costume:
Redemption has wings.
El hijo pródigo
(fragmento)
I
The Prodigal Son
(excerpt)
I
Remembering the bright world
as a letter, a distant call
light or sky extending
through the window
of the men who have long ago taken off their heart,
like a suit, a pair of brand new shoes
or the core of peach on the table.
The exposed meat
purple from sadness,
remembers the finished
and the small brief,
because the brief also matters
like the first teenage dream
or the sudden love for a girl
who walks by setting the beat with her long legs
and over those legs lies the balance of the world,
away from them, fall into misery
where the street dogs
steal the morning a little bit of sun.
